We are very very lucky…

Everzet & Knp

Some of you have probably heard about this in the last months, but it is now official: Konstantin aka Everzet is joining the team. This is absolutely awesome, and the whole KNP team is obviously thrilled to work with such a great developer (and a very nice guy too). Everzet is the lead developer of EverzetRestfulControllersBundle, Behat, EverzetBehatBundle, capifony, the Sahi Driver… amongst other things :-)

Just a very quick note though. Konstantin comes from Belarus. I had absolutely no idea, but the situation there is bad − and it has been deteriorating since the last elections last month. So I encourage you/us to learn more about what is happening there. And know that getting a VISA to work in France is damn hard :-(.

Let's go back to the good news, and focus on what will happen next.

Konstantin will work with us on some exciting Symfony2 projects as well as release and maintain R&D projects…

Behat, the Behavior Driven Development framework for PHP

Obviously, Behat, the Behavior Driven Development framework for PHP will be a part of his work. Because we love this project − and we will offer Behat training.

If you don't know Behat yet, please have a look at behat.org. If you love agility, BDD is great approach and Behat is the way to go.

Behat future

So what's next with Behat?

By the end of the week, we should have:

  • All Behat projects and plugins now will live in their own GitHub organization
  • The new Gherkin parser − decoupled from Behat, fully tested − will live on a separate git repository
  • Behat v0.9 will use this new Gherkin parser
  • behat.org documentation will be powered by Sphinx (like on symfony-reloaded & doctrine-project)

We plan a Behat 1.0 RC1 release on Feb. 19 and a final release during Symfony Live in Paris − where you will see Konstantin give a talk about Behat (March 4).

Konstantin is also working on a secrete project codename Mink − Beta release February, the 9th. Stay tuned!

And you?

If you are a good symfony/Symfony2 developer, you want to come work with us but you don't speak french: don't worry! Thanks to Konstantin, the team now speaks english :)

Once again, welcome, Konstantin.
